SCHEIBE, ROBERT F.

Robert F. Scheibe died peacefully in his home Aug. 5, 2015.

He was born Dec. 19, 1923, in New York where he was raised in the Bronx.

After high school Bob spent a year in the Merchant Marines until he felt called to fight for his country in the Marines. During World War II, he was sent to the Pacific to fight the Japanese. He was a vicious fighter who received honors for his marksmanship.

While fighting with the Raiders he was wounded on the island of New Georgia. His leg was severely damaged which meant a lengthy stay in the hospital in order to save his leg.

On the bright side he met his wife of 66 years, Beverly, who was serving in the hospital as a Wave.

They moved to Long Beach where they started their family then moved to Yucaipa in 1958 where they raised their five children.

Bob worked as a meat cutter at Stater Bros. for 20 years until the leg that was wounded in the war gave out forcing an early retirement.

Bob was a good provider, loving husband and father. He was an avid sports fan of the Rams, Dodgers and Lakers.

He also enjoyed a good poker game.

Bob and Bev enjoyed taking their family camping every summer.

He was loved and will be missed by his surviving children: Janet, Robbie, Don and Curt; grandchildren Shawn, Shawna, Nikki, Jason, Char, Nicholas, Sharla and Jo Jo, along with nine great-grand children.

The memorial was this past Wednesday, Aug. 26.
