The Raider Association

Preserve. Connect. Mobilize.

The US Marine Raider Association began its mission in the 1950s as an Association for US Marine Raiders of WWII. Over time, the Association became a “commemorative, historical, educational, fraternal, and social organization.” The intent of the Association was to encourage the Raiders’ blood relatives, legally adopted stepchildren, non-adopted stepchildren, and other supporters to carry on the Association’s benevolent and educational purposes. The Association’s goal was to maintain, in perpetuity, Marine Raider history, museums, and website.

Mission and Goals of the Marine Raider Association

Our Mission

Today, the Marine Raider Association provides an enduring benefit to Marine Raiders by perpetuating the spirit of camaraderie and preserving both the legacy of Marine Raiders and the history of the Marine Corps in Special Operations.

To this end, the MRA seeks to:

  1. Preserve and promote Marine Raider history and traditions.
  2. Connect Marine Raiders, families, partners, and supporters
  3. Mobilize the Marine Raider community to strengthen the Marine Raider spirit and values.

Our Goals

The Association currently focuses on three lines of effort, each of which stands on its own merit while simultaneously complementing the other two lines:

  1. Preserve: The Association advocates for the proper stewardship of Marine Raider artifacts and documents, to include the proper display of these artifacts at various locations. Currently, some artifacts of note are displayed at the National Museum of the Marine Corps and Raider Hall located at The Basic School at Quantico, VA. The Association also promotes participation in remembrance activities and events, with a particular emphasis on the heroic actions of the WWII Raiders and those Raiders who have served in recent conflicts.
  2. Connect: The Association strives to reach members through a variety of communication methods in order to strengthen bonds within the Raider community. Reunions, speaker forums, and memorial visitations help cement our commitment to the Raider legacy. The Association also partners with groups and supporters who share their dedication and passion for serving the Raider community.
  3. Mobilize: The Association performs outreach activities to members of the Raider community and invites members to actively participate in Association efforts. Active membership in the Association promotes a sense of belonging and solidifies support for the goals of the Association.
