ROBINSON, CLARENCE R.

Clarence R. Robinson, 89, of Powder Springs died Thursday, August 6th, 2015. A Funeral Service will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday in the Chapel at Mayes Ward-Dobbins Funeral Home in Marietta with Dr. William Camp officiating. Interment will follow at Kennesaw Memorial Park in Marietta. Clarence R. Robinson of Powder Springs, GA and formerly of Marietta, GA was a U.S. Marine Veteran of World War II, in particular the Battle of Iwo Jima. He had a thirty-three year career in Law Enforcement with the Marietta Police Department beginning in 1946 when he started out as a Patrolman. Clarence retired in 1980 as Assistant Chief of Police. Survivors include three children, C. Allen Robinson and his wife, Gail of Dallas, Vicki Hunt and her husband, Charles of Marietta, Rex Robinson and his wife, Gayle of Powder Springs; nine grandchildren; twenty-three great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; brother, Noble P. Robinson of Rockmart; and several nieces and nephews. Contributions may be made in loving memory of Clarence to Roswell Street Baptist Church, 744 Roswell Street, Marietta, GA 30060 or the National Museum of the Pacific War, 340 E. Main Street, Fredericksburg, TX 78624. The family will receive friends from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
