MAFFESOLI, JOHN
John Maffesoli, passed in peace on September 12th, 2015 at the age of 93. John was proud to be a first generation American. He served during WWII. After leaving the service he opened a pool hall to support his family. He was married to Dorothy Eileen Tucker. He always joked it was so he could get a tax savings. He enjoyed woodworking and made tables for his home as well as picture frames for the artwork that Dorothy created. He had a love for baseball. He played in a senior league until he was no longer able. Even after he could no longer play baseball he loved to watch the games.
Survivors include his wife Dorothy of 68 years; his children Charles (Margaret) Maffesoli, Mary Jo Maffesoli, John (Deborah) Maffesoli, Steven (Mary) Maffesoli, Alan Maffesoli, Lauren (Tim) Critchlow, and Christopher (Dana) Maffesoli; his 15 grandchildren Anthony Maffesoli, Michael Maffesoli, Andrew Maffesoli, Christopher Sollars, Ryan Maffesoli, Paul Maffesoli, Marissa Doucette, Elizabeth Sollars, John Maffesoli, Kelli Sollars, Brittany Maffesoli, Colin Maffesoli, Sophia Maffesoli, Marcus Maffesoli and Evan; and 9 great-grandchildren Gianni Maffesoli , Quinn Doucette, Zoe Doucette,Tyler, Isabella, Alana, Benjamin, Dominic and Elizabeth; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents Antonio and Giacomina (Pasinetti) Maffesoli, his daughter JoAnn Maffesoli; and 2 brothers Joseph Maffesoli and Sam Maffesoli.
Visitation will be from 1:00 until 9:00 PM at Howe-Peterson Funeral Home, 9800 Telegraph Road, Taylor, Michigan, on Tuesday, September 15th. Funeral services for John will be at Our Lady Of The Angels, 6442 Pelham, Taylor, Michigan on Wednesday, September 16th at 10 AM, in state at 930 AM. John will be laid to rest at Our Lady of Hope Cemetery in Brownstown, MI. Memorial donations may be made to Angela Hospice and The Alzheimer’s Association.
