CARSON, FLOYD L.

Floyd L. Carson, age 81, of Lakewood, formerly of Austintown and North Jackson, passed away Wednesday evening [October 13, 2004] at St. John’s Hospital in Westlake. Floyd was born April 1, 1923 in Georgetown, Ohio, a son of Howard and Florence (Donahoo) Carson.

Floyd had worked at Copperweld Steel retiring in 1985 after 21 years and prior to that he had worked for General Fireproofing for 18 years. He was a WWII veteran serving in the Marine Corps (1st Battalion B Co., Edson’s Raiders).

He is survived by his wife the former Betty Clay whom he married on October 15, 1948; three children Howard Carson of Beavercreek, OH, Keith Carson of Austin, TX, and Maureen Beveridge of Lakewood, OH; three brothers: Vernon of Greenfield, OH, Myron of Las Vegas, NV, and Norman of FL.; nine grandchildren and one great-grandson.

He is preceded in death by a son Charles, two brothers Denver and Linley Carson and a grandson.

Graveside services will be held 1 PM Saturday at Highland Cemetery in Highland, OH. There are no calling hours. Local arrangements are being handled by Lane Funeral Home Austintown Chapel.
