ZACHER, NICK

Nick Zacher, 82, of Wenatchee died December 1, 2003 at Regency Manor in Chelan. He was born January 25, 1921 in Linton, North Dakota to Adam and Catherine Zacher. He was a member of the Conservation Corps, and he also served with Edson’s Raiders in World War II with the Marines in the South Pacific. Nick moved to Wenatchee in 1953, where he worked for Alcoa for a short time, then was a surveyor and then became self employed as a carpet layer. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and in his later years he spent a lot of time with his buddies playing pool.

Survivors include his wife Helen, Cathi Marko of Spokane; children, Linda Strong of East Wenatchee, Bill Zacher and wife Ginger of Chelan, Patti DeArmond and husband Dan of Hayden Lake, Idaho, Jeannie Bohr of Spokane, Chris Wolfe and husband Doug of Bonners Ferry, Idaho, Nancy Zacher and Greg Clarine of Wenatchee; sister, Barbara Young of Duluth, Minnesota; 12 grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren.

Memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, December 4, 2003 at Betts Memorial Chapel. Arrangements are under the care of Betts Funeral Service.
