YEAGER, ADDISON G.

Addison “Ed” Grant Yeager, 91, of Fargo, died Sunday, April 7, 2013, at his home.

Ed was born November 20, 1921 to Jessie (Smoot) Yeager and Clifford B. Yeager in his parents’ home in Rock Lake, North Dakota.

He graduated from Rock Lake High School in 1940 and worked in Burbank, California before enlisting in the United States Marine Corps in 1942. He served in the Pacific area and was honorably discharged in 1946.

Ed worked in Dazey and Fargo, North Dakota until being hired as bar manager at the Fargo American Legion Club in 1952. He resigned from the American Legion in 1966 and managed the Pink Pussy Cat Lounge until 1973. He managed the Bismarck Tavern until 1975 when he was hired to manage the American Legion Club. He worked there for 32 years until his retirement in 1991.

He married Leah Ulmer of Fullerton in Fargo, ND on March 12, 1954. They were blessed with three daughters, all of Fargo: Cindy, Deb (Gary) Brooks, and Wendy (Gary) Fisher; four grandchildren, Zach and Mike Brooks and Kaylee and Grant Fisher; and a special friend, Daizy Fisher, also of Fargo.

Ed served for 16 years as the Chairman of the ND American Legion Consensus Committee and 16 years as Chairman of the ND Post Operations Council. He was also the past President of the North Dakota Council of Clubs and of the Fargo/West Fargo Club Managers Association. Ed was a life member of many organizations in Fargo, including the American Legion; Disabled American Veterans; the Elks; Veterans of Foreign Wars and Edson’s Raiders Association. He was also a member of the AM VETS, Marine Corps League, and Voiture 240 40 ET 8 in Fargo.

Ed was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, one brother, and his loving wife, Leah.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, April 12, 2013, 2pm at First United Methodist Church in Fargo. A visitation will take place on Thursday, April 11 from 5-7pm, followed by a Prayer Service at 7pm at Hanson-Runsvold Funeral Home in Fargo.
