YAZVAC, GEORGE, JR.
George Yazvac Jr., 85, of Mount Airy, died Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2001, at his home.
Born Aug. 15, 1915 in Clarksburg, W.Va., he was the son of the late George Sr. and Theresa Yurecek Yazvac. He was the husband of M. Grace Langrill Yazvac of Mount Airy.
He had been a machinist with Rubberset in Crisfield. He was a World War II veteran with the Marines, where he also served with the Marine Raiders. He was awarded the Purple Heart.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are son Calvin Mason of Edgewater; daughter Pamela Abigill of Mount Airy; stepchildren George Langrill of New Windsor, Lisa Langrill-Smith of Hydes, Stephen Langrill of Baldwin, Elena Langrill of Lutherville and Linda Jakelski of Street; brother Thomas Yazvac of Baltimore; 17 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by son George Yazvac III; and siblings John, Joseph, Charles, James and Theresa Yazvac.
A memorial Mass will be held at a later date.
Friends may call from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Haight Funeral Home & Chapel, 6416 Sykesville Road, Sykesville, where a Catholic prayer service will be held at 7:30 p.m.
