WILLIAMS, OTIS L.
Otis Lee Williams was born June 8, 1924, and passed away Sept. 17, 2005, after a lengthy illness. Mr. Williams was born in Lepanto, Ark., and received degrees from Arkansas State, Ole Miss and UCLA in secondary school administration. He and his wife, Helen, moved to Upper Lake in 1970, where Mr. Williams was the principal of Upper Lake High School. After his retirement from the high school he was elected to the school board for Upper Lake Middle School, where he was at one-time chairman of the board.
Mr. Williams served with the Marines in the Pacific during World War II where he received the Purple Heart on the Island of Guam. Mr. Williams taught in several schools both within and outside the state of California including schools in Victorville, Big Valley, Hayfork and Upper Lake.
He is survived by one brother, Eran Williams in Madera; one sister, Sara Jo Vance in New Boston, Texas; three children, Marilyn June Griffin of Farson, Wyo., Clement Ray Williams of Rock Springs, Wyo., and John Allen Williams of Orlando, Fla.; four grandchildren, Lisa Schmid, Lee Griffin, Andrew Williams and Matt Williams; one great-granddaughter; and one great-grandson.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen, and several brothers and sisters.
Interment will be in Wyoming. Memorial services are at 10 a.m., Thursday, Sept. 22 at Jones Mortuary, 115 S. Main St., Lakeport.
