WHITE, JAMES T.

A military rite for Marine Cpl. James T. White, 27, 793 Smith St., who died May 16, 1945 of wounds suffered in action on Okinawa, will be held at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Frear Funeral Home, 1340 Lake Ave. Burial will be in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.

Corporal White, the first Rochester father to be inducted into the Marine Corps, was awarded the Bronze Star posthumously. He attended Madison and Jefferson High Schools and was employed at the Rochester Carting Company before entering service Oct. 9, 1943. He was sent overseas with an engineer battalion in July 1944.

Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Isabel White; three daughters, Joan, Mary Ann and Betty Ann; a son, Donald; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. James F. White; two brothers, Michael White and George R. White; and five sisters, Mrs. John Fleming, Mrs. Jusine Fleming, Mrs. Kenneth Tripp, Mrs. James Edwards, and Miss Betty Jane White.
