WEST, WILLIAM R.
GILLIAM, LA — William Richard (Bill) West was buried on October 7, 2010, at Evans-Richie Cemetery in Vivian, LA in a graveside service. Billy was born on November 13, 1924, in Claiborne Parish near Haynesville, LA. He died on October 5, 2010, at the Northwest Louisiana War Veterans Home in Bossier City, LA.
He served in the United States Marine Corps in the Pacific where he was wounded twice during World War II. He graduated from Centenary College (B.S. in geology, 1951). A former resident of McLeod, TX and Rodessa, LA, he lived in Shreveport for many years. He was a member of First United Methodist Church Shreveport and Monterey Country Club in Vivian, where he enjoyed golfing with friends; he was employed in the oil industry during his working life.
Billy was preceded in death by his parents, Charles W. and Iris Vaughan West, and his brother, Charles V. West.
