WALSH, JAMES F.

The body of Marine Sgt. James F. Walsh, 24, son of Mr. and Mrs. James L. Walsh, 412 Stafford Ave., who was killed in action July 20, 1943, on New Georgia, Solomon Islands, will arrive in Syracuse at 5 p.m. today.

Services will be held at the family home at 9 a.m. Thursday and at 9:30 a.m. in the Church of the Blessed Sacrament. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery.

He enlisted in the Marine Corps on March 3, 1941, and received his preliminary training at Parris Island, S.C. He was stationed at Quantico, Va., before sailing for duty in the Pacific and was among the first contingent of Marines to land on Guadalcanal.
