WALKER, EDWARD H.

Edward Henry Walker, a beloved, longtime Newark resident and volunteer of the year passed away with his loving family present at Kaiser hospital in Fremont, CA, February 22, 2004. Edward Henry Walker was born April 10, 1921 in a rural area of South Dakota. He was the first of nine children born to Charles and Dena Walker. His surviving siblings are Dolores, Charles, Allen, Duane and Dorothy. Surviving step-family members are Denis, Gayle, Diane, Carol and Charles. His mother, father, stepmother Gertrude, brothers Richard, Darryl and Willard all preceded him in death. He was the memorable husband of Mona May Seelye Walker for 55 years. Father of Deborah, Adele, Pamela and son-in-law Leonard, Kathleen, David and daughter-in-law Rene, William and daughter-in-law Carole, and his youngest daughter Audrey. Edward was also a proud grandfather of thirteen and lived to see his first great-grandchild. Edward served for five years with the Marines. He was part of the Raiders Special Forces in the Pacific Theater during World War II. Edward continued to be involved in the service by actively participating in the Marine League, American Legion and VFW. He was also involved in the IOF and AARP. Edward dedicated twenty-two years to Caterpillar Tractor in quality control. He was committed to his community and donated his time to such organizations as the Salvation Army for thirteen years, Teachers Aid for fifteen years, 4-H for ten years, and on the Newark Senior Advisory Board for ten years. He loved traveling, camping, woodworking and photography. Services will be held at Lima Family Milpitas Fremont Mortuary Thursday, February 26, at 7:00 p.m., preceded by light refreshments at 6:00 p.m. Viewing time begins at 2:00 p.m. Lima Family is located at 48800 Warm Springs Blvd. in Fremont.
