SWINGLE, DOYLE L.

DAVENPORT – Doyle L. “D.” Swingle, 67, of 2223 W. 29th St., died Thursday [December 7, 1989] at Mercy Hospital.

Services will be 11:30 a.m. Monday at Runge Mortuary. Burial will be in National Cemetery, Rock Island Arsenal. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Sunday.

He had been safety director 16 years at the former J.I. Case Co., Bettendorf. He later sold real estate for Norm Friederichs and Jerry Yakish, and recently was a car salesman at Lujack, Davenport, and drove a school bus.

Mr. Swingle married Jeanette Custer in 1946 in Davenport.

He was a graduate of Davenport High School.

He was a Marine Corps veteran of World War II, serving in the South Pacific.

He enjoyed bowling and time with his family.

Survivors include his wife; daughters, Vicki Swingle, Oakland, Cakif., and Kristi (Mrs. Shane) LaBath, Davenport; sons, Jeff, Burlington, Iowa, and Marc, Davenport; three grandchildren; his mother, Ellen Moore, Davenport; and a brother, Robert Swingle, Davenport.
