STRAUSS, ANTHONY H.

Memorial services will be Friday for Howard Anthony Strauss, who died Monday [June 15, 1987] in Santa Cruz. He was 65.

A native of New York City, Mr. Strauss worked as a painting contractor in Boulder Creek for many years. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Marine Corps in the Pacific Theater. He received numerous battlefield decorations, including two Purple Hearts.

Mr. Strauss was a former member of the VFW and an avid hunter, fisherman and golfer.

He is survived by Ruth Silva of Boulder Creek; five daughters, Judith Olmstead of Santa Cruz, Terry Strauss of Cottage Grove, Ore., Monica Radley of Culp Creek, Ore., Sandy Hendricks of Shelton, Wash., and Bobbie Gifford of Truckee; four sons, Steven Strauss of Boulder Creek, Clifford Strauss of Modesto, Randy Strauss of Woodside, and William A. Silva of Bethesda, Md.; 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his mother, Lillian Mohrbacher of Astoria, N.Y. and by his first wife, Patricia Stamps Strauss Butler of Corvallis, Ore.

Memorial services will be held at White’s Chapel, 138 Walnut Ave. at 1 p.m. Friday. Friends may call Friday from 8:30 a.m. to noon at the chapel. Interment will be private.
