STOCKER, HARVEY C.

Harvey Clair Stocker, 83, of Danville, went to be with the Lord at 4:05 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 1, 2005, at Illiana Health Care Systems in Danville.

Harvey was born in Rhinelander, Wis., on Oct. 28, 1921, to Arthur William and Myrtle Dart Stocker. He married Joyce Ann Dobbs on Feb. 2, 1944, in Waukegan, Ill. She survives.

He attended Rhinelander schools. He served with the U.S. Marine Corps in the Carlson Raiders [Battalion] during World War II. He had worked for Daniel Printing in Rhinelander and also at Tee Pak in Danville. After retiring from the printing industry in 1973, Harvey and Joyce owned and operated The Corner Tap in Buckley, Ill.

He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church. He enjoyed golf, fishing, hunting, Green Bay Packers, and most of all was a dedicated family man.

Harvey is survived by his seven children: Larry Stocker (Janet) of Las Cruces, N.M., Carol Pollow (Chuck) of Washington, Ill., William Stocker (Georgia) of Danville, Cynthia Snider of Gurnee, Ill., Steven Stocker (Debbie) of Quincy, Ill., Maryann Gibson (Dennis) of Paxton, and Kurt Stocker (Judy) of Rantoul. Also surviving are two sisters: Jackie Cody (Pete) and Mary Lou Baribeau (Floyd), both of Rhinelander, Wis., 21 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

His parents, brother Bill, and sisters Phyllis, Dorothy, and Doris preceded him in death.

A celebration of his life and Mass will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2005, at Holy Family Catholic Church with the Rev. Ted Pracz officiating. A family gathering and visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Monday at Pape Memorial Home and Cremation Gardens, 10 E. Williams, Danville, with a wake service at 5 p.m. Monday. Entombment will be at Resurrection Cemetery, In lieu of flowers, please send memorials to the Alzheimer’s unit at the Danville VA Illiana Health Care Center.
