STALEY, BANKS W.

FRANKTON – Banks W. Staley, 83, 202 S. Fletcher Street, Frankton, died Friday [December 23, 2000] at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis.

Born Dec. 22, 1917 in High Point, N.C., he was the son of Charles W. and Edith (Crouch) Staley.

He married Emma “Eileen” (Benefiel) Staley on March 9, 1944. She survives.

He retired from Penn Central Railroad in 1975. A veteran of the U.S. Marines during World War II, he was a recipient of the Purple Heart. He was a member of the Elwood Elks #368, National Wood Carvers Association, Converse Wood Carvers Club, and Frankton Wood Carvers Club.

Survivors also include two daughters, Linda Reynolds and Joan Pruitt, both of Frankton, and three grandsons.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Weston Staley, and a sister, Girliane Staley.

Services will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday, at Harper & Dunnichay Funeral Home in Frankton. Rev. Christina Dougherty and Rev. Carol Whetsel will officiate. Burial will be in K of P and IOOF Cemetery in Frankton.

Friends may visit from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Harper & Dunnichay Funeral Home, Frankton.
