SMITH, EARL H.

DAVIN — Earl H. Smith Jr., 49, of Davin, Logan County, died Friday [April 18, 1975] in Man Appalachian Regional Hospital after a long illness.

He was a member of the Gillman Bottom Community Tabernacle in Davin, and a retired employee of the Pittston Coal Co. He was a member of the United Mine Workers of America and a veteran of World War II.

Surviving: wife, Betty Jo Toler Smith; son, Chadwick L. at home; daughters, Mrs. Shelia Brown of Lacoma, Anita Jo and Kimberly at home; mother, Mrs. Virgie Hoosier Smith of Davin; brothers, James L. and William H. of Davin; sisters, Mrs. Sharleen Browning of Amherstdale, Mrs. Irene Dotson of Huntington, Mrs. Alice Ellis of Prichard; two grandchildren.

Service will be 11 a.m. Monday in Davin Baptist Church with the Rev. Chester Osborne and the Rev. Jobie Kessler officiating. Burial will be in Smith family cemetery, Prichard, Wayne County.

Friends may call after 4:30 p.m. today at the church. McNeely Funeral Home, Man, Logan County, is in charge of arrangements.
