SCHUCK, THEODORE J.

Theodore J. Schuck, 78, passed away at his Avon, Indiana home Feb 7, 2003. No services are planned. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 53 years Esther E. (Wilson) Schuck in 1999. He joined the Marines after high school, serving throughout the Pacific Theater as a member of Edson’s Raider Battalion and 4th Marines, culminating in the landing on the Japanese mainland. He remained in the Marines through the Korean War, serving as a Drill Instructor at Camp Pendleton, CA. Returning to Indiana, he began a career in industrial construction, working his way up to General Field Superintendent for Ellis Construction Company. A move to Leadville, CO followed where he and Esther owned/operated the Crews-Beggs Trading Company and the Delaware Hotel. Escaping the cold of Colorado, they returned to Indiana where he became the Facilities Superintendent for the City of Plainfield until his third retirement. Mr. Schuck was active in the Murat Shrine and the Elks and was a 50-year Mason. He belonged to the Prestwick Country Club where he was an avid golfer, and enjoyed a lifelong interest in the shooting sports. Mr. Schuck is survived by sons Michael A. of Las Cruces, NM, and Mark L. of Dayton, WA; his sister Betty Bothwell of Cascade, ID; and 4 grandchildren.
