SCHACHT, ROGER I.

Roger Schacht, 25, 1514 Algonquin Rd., Des Plaines, took his own life Monday morning [December 9, 1946] by firing a bullet from a .45 government Colt into his head. Herman Stoeckel, Arlington Hts., notified the county sheriff’s police at 10:45 that a man was slumped over the steering wheel of a ‘34 Pontiac parked on River Rd., a quarter of a mile north of Rand Rd.

The police took the unconscious man to Northwestern Hospital where he died at 4:20 p.m. He did not regain consciousness.

At the inquest held Tuesday at Lauterburg and Ochler’s, evidence was given that the deceased was a sufferer of a tropical illness as a result of his war service.
