SAPOWICZ, ALEXANDER J.
Alexander J. Sapowicz, 93, of Goffstown and formerly of Manchester, died April 2, 2012 at Hillsborough County Nursing Home. Mr. Sapowicz was born in Manchester, May 16, 1918, the son of John and Catherine (Lemko) Sapowicz. He attended local schools and was a lifelong resident of this community. He worked with the CC’s in northern NH in his early years. Alex was a U.S. Marine during WWII and was awarded the Purple Heart for his service. He served in Tulagi, Guadalcanal, British Solomon Islands and New Georgia Islands. Prior to his retirement, Alex was a machine mechanic at Gulton Industries Inc. He was a communicant of St. Joseph Cathedral. His wife, Regina M. (Poluchov) Sapowicz, died July 31, 2010. Members of his family include a brother and his wife: George and Louise Sapowicz of Manchester, a sister; Sylvia Burroughs of Manchester, and Ed and Laurie Krochmal.
