ROSENCRANS, PAUL C.

Paul C. Rosencrans, 73, of Rice Lake, died July 21 [1996] at his home. Funeral services will be this Wednesday at 8 p.m. at the Jarocki Funeral Home in Rice Lake, with Rev. Burley McDonald officiating. Private interment with full military rites will be on Thursday in Wayside Cemetery in Barron.

Mr. Rosencrans was born Aug. 31, 1922 to Lloyd and Ruth Rosencrans in Decatur County, Indiana, where he grew up and received his education. After graduating from Anderson High School, he joined the Marines and later a special force known as the Marine Raiders and fought in the Pacific Theater of World War II. He was a recipient of a Purple Heart. Afterward, he attended technical school and received a degree in mechanical engineering. Mr. Rosencrans then worked for Pixall in Clear Lake and later for Mastercraft Industries in Rice Lake until his retirement in 1987. On Sept. 9, 1988, he married LaRae Berenschot in Omaha, Neb. In 1994 he began working at Wal-Mart in Rice Lake and was presently working in the sporting goods department.

He was a member of the Chetek American Legion and was a former Rice Lake Elks member, serving as chaplain from 1989-90. Mr. Rosencrans was an avid sportsman.

He is survived by his wife, LaRae; a son, Gary of Wisconsin Rapids; a daughter, Kathy Johnson of Opelika, Ala.; a stepson, Lane Berenschot of Glenwood City; four stepdaughters, Lynette Meier of Rochester, Minn., Leissa Blank and Lori Wagner, both of Menomonie, and Leslie Goodnetter of Milwaukee; four grandchildren and eight step grandchildren.
