RONDERO, PETER J.

Peter J. Rondero, Sr. was born on January 18, 1926, in Holtville, CA. He died peacefully surrounded by his family on July 22, 2014, in Fresno, CA. He served in the United States Marine Corps, was a veteran of World War II, first wave Iwo Jima, and the Korean War. He was a recipient of the Purple Heart and Navy Commendation Medal, a member of the Military Order of the Purple Heart and of the Marine Corps League. He retired from the U.S. Postal Service in 1976 and was a former officer of the National Association of Letter Carriers, Branch 193. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Cora; and children, Virginia Hernandez and her husband John, Patricia Garvin and her husband Dan, and son David Rondero, Sr. He leaves grandchildren, David Jr., Danielle, RC, Lisa, Deanna, Cristina, Shannon and Matthew, as well as his great-grandchildren, Justin, Bennett, Samuel and Noelle. A Viewing will be held at Farewell Funeral Service, 660 W. Locust Ave., Fresno, CA on Sunday, July 27, 2014, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. with Recitation of the Holy Rosary beginning at 6:00 p.m. A Memorial Service and Mass will be held at Holy Spirit Catholic Church on Monday, July 28, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Break the Barriers, 8555 N. Cedar Ave., Fresno, CA 93720, in memory of his son, P.J. who preceded him in death.
