ROBLIN, WALTER K.

COHOES — Lt. Col. Walter Kimberley “Kim” Roblin, 98, retired U.S. Army, died on Friday, February 27, 2015, at the Eddy Village Green in Cohoes. Born in Watervliet in 1917, he was the son of the late Wilmot H. and Berniece Robertson Roblin. Walter was a graduate of Watervliet High School. He attended Collegiate Center, a branch of SUNY-Albany, and the University of Michigan. He married Eileen Ormandy Roblin in 1943 and she preceded him in death in 2004.

He was proud of his service to his country, especially as a member of the U.S. Marine Corps 1st Marine Raider Battalion in the Pacific Theater during World War II. He retired from the U.S. Army in 1977, and also was retired from the State of New York.

He is survived by two daughters, Margaret “Peg” Alaxanian (late Thomas) and Penelope Atkiss (Anthony); one son, Christopher H. (Connie Gatt) Roblin; 10 grandchildren, Timothy (Krista), Peter (Elizabeth), Michael and Christina Illenberg, Karen, Susan, Katy and Steven Atkiss, and Kimberley and Alison Roblin; nine great-grandchildren and seven nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by three brothers, John H. (Sarah M.), Robert (Dorothy) and Wilmot R. (Mary Heath) Roblin, and one sister, Marjorie Roblin Harrison (William).

His burial will be private. A memorial service will be held at a later date.

The family would like to thank the excellent staff at House 14 at the Eddy Village Green for the wonderful care given to our dad.
