ROBERTS, JAMES G.
WOOSTER, O. INS – A 32-year-old Columbus man fell 275 feet to his death Monday [April 26, 1954] while working on the transmitting tower of Station WWST in Wooster.
The victim was James G. Roberts, who was painting the tower at the time of the mishap.
His brother, Jack, witnessed the accident. James plummeted to the ground just as Jack was driving up to the tower.
Police report that an inspection of James’ equipment showed that nothing had been broken.
The men are employees of the Radio Tower Company of Columbus. James, and ex-Marine and carpenter by trade, had been working for the company for 10 days before the accident.
