Jacob W. “Jake” Ribar, age 86, of Gurnee, IL, died January 4, 2012, at Libertyville Manor nursing home, where he was a resident for 2 years. There will be a memorial visitation from 10:00 AM until 11:30AM with the memorial service commencing at 11:30 AM at Southside Church of Christ, 1933 West Grange Ave., Milwaukee, WI, on Saturday, January 14, 2012. Jake was born May 30, 1925 in Milwaukee, WI and spent his first 45 years in the Milwaukee area. Jake served in the Marine Corps for 4 years during World War II and the Korean War. He then lived in Oconomowoc, WI, for 10 years and the northern Chicago suburban area for 30 years. He worked as a principal engineer for construction technology until he retired in 1998. He was preceded in death by his first wife Joyce, daughter Susan Schramm, sister Mary Gromowski, brothers Mike and Ed, and his parents. Jake is survived by his wife Genevieve of Gurnee, IL, son Jeff (Kathy) Ribar of Dousman, WI, daughter Sherry (Jay) Groothousen of Arizona, daughter Cindy (Lester) Belan of Eagle, WI, son Dan Nieman of Park City, IL, daughter Shawn (Mike) Hibbard of Waukesha, WI, son Joel (Cathy) Ribar of Wauwatosa, WI, daughter Connie (John) Goodwin of Southbury, CT, sister Betty Roffers of Whitefish Bay, WI, brother Robert (Darlene) Ribar of Waukesha, WI, his 12 grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers please make donations to Wisconsin Christian Youth Camp of Black River Falls, WI. All funeral arrangements were entrusted to Strang Funeral Chapel & Crematorium in Grayslake, IL.
