REES, DANIEL T.

A memorial mass for Marine Pvt. Daniel T. Rees, who was killed June 21 [1945] on Okinawa, will be said in St. Rita Chapel, 63rd St. and Oakley Ave., at noon next Sunday. Private Rees was the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Rees, 2036 W. Garfield Blvd.

He enlisted in service in February, 1943, while a student at the University of Illinois. He left for the Pacific Theater of war in July, 1943, was a member of a Raider battalion and saw action in several of the major island invasions.

Private Rees graduated at St. Rita High School. Besides his parents, he is survived by a sister, Mrs. John Tordella of Richland, Wash., and a brother, Pvt. Clark H. Rees now in Germany.

Historian’s note: Daniel T. Rees held the rank of private first class when he was KIA on Okinawa.
