RAWLINGS, HENRY W.

Henry Weatherly Rawlings, age 88, of Louisville passed away Tuesday, January 8, 2013 at Jefferson Manor.

He was born September 13, 1924 in Heidelberg, KY, the son of John D. and Laura Pearl Rawlings.

Henry enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and served in WWII where he was involved with Carlson’s Raiders, before going to college. After graduation from University of Kentucky, he started his career in the United States Army. He served in the Vietnam War and retired as a Lt. Colonel.

He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Doris Rawlings; his daughter, Sharon Jaracz (Thad); his son, Henry Rawlings, II (Jo Ann); his daughters Laura Koch (John) and Sandra Rawlings; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Henry was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and one brother.

The family wishes to thank Jefferson Manor for all of their care and support over the last 4 years.

A Service to Celebrate Henry’s Life will be conducted at 12:00 PM on Wednesday, January 16, 2013 in the Chapel of Arch L. Heady and Son at Westport Village, 7410 Westport Rd. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
