PIKE, HENRY Q.

Retired 1st Sgt. Henry Quinton Pike, 90, of Gulfport, Mississippi, formerly of Carbon Hill, passed away Tuesday, March 24, 2015, at the Armed Forces Retirement Home in Gulfport, Mississippi.

Visitation will be held Monday, March 30, 2015, for family from 11 until noon and for friends from noon until 2 p.m. at Carbon Hill First Baptist Church in Carbon Hill.

Funeral services will be held Monday, March 30, 2015, at 2 p.m. at Carbon Hill First Baptist Church, with a military graveside service following at Carbon Hill Memorial Cemetery.

Mr. Pike would have turned 91 years old today, March 29, 2015. He served in World War II with Marine Raiders, 3rd Battalion D & M Company. He also served during the Korean War, two tours of duty during the Vietnam War and numerous Pacific campaigns. Pike served 27 years with honor and dedicated service to his country.

He also served the community of Carbon Hill for many years as city clerk and mayor, and was a lifetime member of the American Legion Post 101 of Carbon Hill.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Annie Clay Pike; mother, Eula Mae Whitley Pike; father, Charlie F. Pike; stepmother, Mary M. Pike; three sisters, Geneva Tittle, Vivian Clements and Ruby Pike.

Pike is survived by his son, Tommy (Janice) Pike; daughter, Kandie (John) Nesmith; grandchildren, Joshua Nesmith and Tiffany Fant; nine great-grandchildren; brothers, Charles “Bob” Pike, Kermit Pike and Joe Pike (Becky), all of Carbon Hill; sisters, Linda Pike, Brenda Pike and Margaret Pike, all of Carbon Hill, Martha Phillips of Benton, Arkansas, and Mary Kellis and Nancy Izzi, both of Jasper; and numerous nieces and nephews, and grandnieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Joshua Nesmith, Jonathan Lee, Ryan Sandlin, Mark Tittle, Bill Sawyer Jr., Zane Wideman, Phillip Noles and Winfred Nesmith.
