PICKERING, ROBERT W.

TITUSVILLE — Robert W. Pickering, 74, a retired industrial engineer for the Boeing Corp. at Kennedy Space Center, died Monday, November 13, 2000, at Parrish Medical Center. Mr. Pickering was born in Wakeeney, KS. He came to Brevard County in 1960 from Seattle, Wash. He was a World War II Marine Corps veteran, who was awarded the World War II Service Medal, American Campaign Service Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign, and received a Purple Heart for wounds received in Okinawa on April 15, 1945. Mr. Pickering was a member of the D.A.V. Commander Club, North Brevard Christian Men’s Association, Titusville High School Band Parent, Little League Baseball volunteer, and a member of the Indian River City United Methodist Church. He followed his children and grandchildren’s activities throughout the state. Survivors include his wife, Lila Pickering of Titusville; sons, Robert W. Pickering Jr. of Port St. John, and Randall C. Pickering of Titusville; daughter, Kathy M. Patrick of Titusville; grandchildren, Robert, William, Angela, Michelle, Jennifer, Ronald, Adam, Nathan and Seth; great-grandchildren, Isaiah, Stephen, Shyanne, JT and Olivia; brothers, Roy and Elwood; and sisters, Dora Marie and Ruth. Calling hour will be from 1 to 2 p.m. today, with services following, at Brevard Memorial Funeral Home. Burial will be at Brevard Memorial Park. Brevard Memorial Funeral Home in Frontenac is in charge of arrangements.
