PENN, GROVER D.
Grover D. “Don” Penn, age 84, of Wilmington, DE, passed away on Friday, July 28, 2006.
Mr. Penn was a foreman with Anchor Coupling in Newark for 34 years before retiring. Grover was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, where he was an [Edson] Raider from 1941-1946. He was past commandant of the Marine Corps League, past commander of the DAV Dept. of DE and Chaplain of the Military Order of Devil Dogs. Grover was also past governor of the New Castle Moose Lodge #1578, a member of the VFW Post #615 and the American Legion, Stahl Post #30. He was a Mason with St. John’s Lodge # 2 in New Castle and a member of the Scottish Rite Choir.
Grover is survived by his wife of 57 years, Viola; his brother, Charles W. Penn; his sister, Betty Laubacher, all of Wilmington; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews
The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, August 2, 2006, at 12:30 pm at the McCrery Memorial Chapel, 3710 Kirkwood Highway at Duncan Rd., where friends may call at 11:30 am. Burial will follow in the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Bear, DE.
