PAWLIK, HENRY F.
Henry F. “Hank” Pawlik of Saginaw, Michigan, passed away August 19, 2008 at age 86 years.
The son of the late John and Apolonia (Golen) Pawlik, Hank was born August 14, 1922 in Saginaw, Michigan.
He married Delphine Marie Haremski, his loving wife of nearly 61 years, on September 27, 1948. She survived him.
Hank served in the U.S. Marine Corps from September of 1940 to November of 1946. He participated in the invasion of Guadalcanal and Tulagi with the 1st Raider Battalion and was stationed in Japan with the military police 2nd Marine Division. Hank visited Hiroshima and Nagasaki shortly after the atomic bomb explosions. He was a member of V.F.W. Post #1859, American Legion Post #439 and Military Order of the Cooties Pup Tent #17.
He was employed by the Saginaw Police Department for 31 years and retired as captain of investigation in 1977. He was also a member of F.O.P. #105. Hank served as a baliff for 10 years with Judge Joseph DeFrancesco, the 70th Municipal Court.
He enjoyed fishing, working on the computer and spending time with his family.
Surviving besides his wife Del were three sons, three daughters and their spouses, David Pawlik and his fiancée Susan Albertine, Rockville, Maryland; Sue Ann Bierlein, Frankenmuth; Debbi and Dave DeGrow, Freeland; Mary and Mike Sullivan, Tipp City Ohio; Don and Lisa Pawlik, Clarkston; Todd and Sheri Pawlik, Beverly Hills, Michigan; 13 grandchildren, Logan and Sawyer Pawlik, Kyle (Sandra) and Craig Bierlein, Adam Brandimore, Lindsay, Brendan, Spenser, and Cameron Pawlik, Alexandria and Rachel Pawlik, Dawn (Reed) Beaver, Jeff (Missy) DeGrow; great-grandchildren Owen Bierlein, Evan and Sydney DeGrow; also surviving were one sister, Irene (Russel) Packard; four brothers, Harold (Fran) Pawlik, Chester (Patricia) Pawlik, Ben (Zita) Pawlik and Ted (Mary Ann) Pawlik; a brother-in-law, Francis (Romaine) Haremski; many nieces and nephews.
Hank was preceded in death by three sisters, Victoria Winiecke, Theresa Musial, and Julia Kostrzewa.
