PALONIS, ANTHONY J., JR.

Anthony John Joseph Palonis Jr., 67, of Tampa, died Monday [January 22, 1990] at home. He was born in West Hanover, Mass., and came here in 1966 from Parris Island, S.C. He was a charter member of the Open Bible Church in Miami and attended Idlewild Baptist Church in Tampa. He was a retired Marine Corps lieutenant colonel, serving 29 years. He was a veteran of World War II, the Korean and Vietnam wars. He was much decorated, receiving the Silver Star, Bronze Star and two Purple Hearts. He was a member of the First Marine Raider Battalion (Edson’s Raiders), the Retired Officers Association, Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Hospital Committee of the Shriners Hospital for Crippled Children and the Temple Terrace Golf and Country Club. Survivors include his wife, Alma; two daughters, Kathy Jones and Judy Ramsden, both of Tampa; and two grandchildren. Moss-Feaster Funeral Home, Sylvan Abbey Chapel, Clearwater.
