FARMERVILLE, La., March 30—(Special)—The body of Sgt. J. E. Owens, 22, killed in action in Okinawa June [21], 1945, will arrive in Ruston Thursday at 9:05 a.m. The funeral will be held in Mt. Ararat Church Saturday at 2 p.m. Rev. W. E. King and Rev. J. L. Beasley will officiate. There will be a full military service at the grave in the church cemetery. Kilpatrick Funeral Home will be in charge of arrangements.
Pallbearers will be: Dwight Taylor, Norman Taylor, John R. Taylor, Paschal Taylor, Robert Taylor and Michael Taylor.
Owens was a first-year student in Louisiana Tech when he enlisted.
He leaves his mother, Mrs. E. J. Owens, Point, La.; a brother, Major O. O. Owens, U.S.A. and a sister, Miss Sue Ann Owens, Point.
