ORR, JUNIOR B.
Jay B. Orr, 81, of Arnold, died Sept. 21 [2002] at Anne Arundel Medical Center after a brief illness. The cause of death was not available.
Mr. Orr was born in Point Marion, Pa., on May 26, 1921. He was the son of the late Harry and Jennifer Orr.
He served in the Marines during World War II. After the war, he attended Eastern Kentucky University and was a member of the Army ROTC. He later went on to receive a graduate degree in counseling and psychology from Bowie State University.
After graduation, Mr. Orr was employed by Anne Arundel County Public Schools as an Industrial Arts teacher and a Pupil Personnel Worker.
He was a football coach at Annapolis High School and was active in city recreation league sports. After retirement from his work with the county, Mr. Orr was employed by several private programs serving at-risk youth.
Surviving are one son, Stevyn K. Orr of Stewartstown, Pa.; one daughter, Rebecca Benner of Arnold; one sister, Evelyn Watson of Pennsylvania; and four granddaughters.
Relatives and friends may call at the John M. Taylor Funeral Home, 147 Duke of Gloucester St., Annapolis, from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Wednesday. A graveside service will follow at 11:30 a.m. in the Maryland Veterans Cemetery, 1080 Sunrise Beach Road, Crownsville.
