OBERG, RICHARD A.

CRYSTAL LAKE – Richard A. Oberg, 70, of Crystal Lake, died Thursday, May 12, 1994, at Sherman Hospital, Elgin.

He was born Nov. 23, 1923, in Chicago, the son of George and Irene (Hogue) Oberg. He married Jean E. Griffiths on Dec. 23, 1944, in Washington, D.C.

Mr. Oberg was a World War II veteran, serving with the 2nd U.S. Marine Raider Battalion and was a member of the U.S. Marine Raider Association North Central chapter. He was a retired claims manager with Kemper Insurance in Long Grove.

He is survived by his wife, Jean, of Crystal Lake; a daughter, Melodee (Wayne) Markee of Crystal Lake; two sons, Gary R. Oberg, M.D., of Crystal Lake and Dean W. (Carol) Oberg of Bossier City, La.; and six grandchildren, Tyler and Brennan Markee, and Jay, Doug, Ryan and Leatha Oberg.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Walter.

Friends may call from 4 p.m. Sunday, May 15, until the service at 8 p.m. at Querhammer Funeral Home, Crystal Lake, with the Rev. Dr. Keith A. Haemmelmann officiating. Interment will be private.
