NUGENT, WILEY M.

Wiley M. Nugent, 55, of 22 Robin Way, San Carlos, died Monday [December 4, 1977] at Sequoia Hospital after a long illness.

A native of San Francisco, he had lived in the Belmont and San Carlos area for the past 30 years.

He began a law enforcement career with the Belmont Police Department after World War II and then went to work for the California Highway Patrol for 25 years until his retirement.

He had served with the U.S. Marines during World War II and received many decorations, including the Purple Heart. He was a member of San Mateo Lodge 1112, BPOE, and the Native Sons of the Golden West.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Eileen; a daughter, Peggy Renstrom of Newark; two sisters, Louise Rodrique of Ukiah and Lucy Weare of Belmont; and one grandson.

The funeral service will be Wednesday at 9 a.m. at Carlmont Funeral Chapel in Belmont, followed by a 9:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at Mt. Carmel Catholic Church in Redwood City.

The rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. today at Carlmont Funeral Chapel. Interment will be at Golden Gate National Cemetery.
