NEDERVELT, DUDLEY E.
Dudley E. Nedervelt, age 90 of Grand Haven, passed away Sunday, September 14, 2014 at Sanctuary at the Shore. Dud was born November 17, 1923 to David and Frances (Fisher) Nedervelt in Grand Haven. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II. Following his discharge from the Marines he married Berta Gelderloos on January 18, 1946. She preceded him in death on January 13, 2010. Dud was a lifelong resident of Grand Haven. He retired from Michigan Plastics in 1988 where he worked as an Industrial Engineer. Prior to working for Michigan Plastics, he worked at Camfield’s and Michigan Brass Co. Dud was a man of great faith. He was a member of Second Christian Reformed Church where he served as Elder, Deacon and Sunday school teacher. Dud gave generously of his time volunteering at the church, The Nearly New Shop and tending to the flowers at Harbourfront. He also enjoyed gardening at his home and was a former member of the American Legion. Dud will be lovingly remembered by his daughters, Colleen (P.J.) Mc Carthy of Nunica, Cathy (Craig) Cook of Holland; son, Rodney Nedervelt of Kalamazoo; grandchildren, Ryan Mosley, Logan Nedervelt, Kelsey (Dan) Kavanagh; great-grandchildren, Koby and Kaytlin; sister, Barbara Werly of Spring Lake; special friend, David Robinson of Grand Haven and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister, Arnell Rakosky, brother, Edward Nedervelt and in-laws, Lester Werly and LaVerne Rakosky. The funeral service for Dud will be 4:00 p.m. Thursday, September 18, 2014 at Second Christian Reformed Church with Pastor Michael Koetje officiating. Interment will be in Lake Forest Cemetery. Full military honors will be provided by the American Legion Charles A. Conklin Post #28. Friends and relatives may visit with the family 5:00 pm-8:00 pm Wednesday, September 17, 2014 at Klaassen Family Funeral Home Family.
