NAPHEN, PETER H.

NORWALK – Peter Naphen, 45, of 21 Westmere Road, Rowayton, whose body was found floating a short distance off Rowayton beach Friday morning at 10 o’clock, died [July 2, 1970] of a self-inflicted pistol wound in the head, it was disclosed today by police.

An autopsy by medical examiner Dr. Melvin Orlins disclosed the head wound.

Police said a note was found in Mr. Naphen’s home in which he said to his three sons he had tried to be a good father and he knew their mother would take good care of them.

It was reported that Mr. Naphen recently separated from his wife, and a short time ago lost his job in New York.
