MYERS, DORWIN F.

PORTLAND, Ind. – Dorwin F. Myers, 56, R.R. 2, was killed about 1:55 p.m. Monday [March 3, 1980] on U.S. 50, 14 miles east of MacArthur, Ohio, when the semi-tractor trailer he was driving went out of control on a sharp curve.

The Ohio State Patrol reported the semi was en route east when it slid off the road at the curve and overturned in a deep ditch.

He was a farmer in Greene Township and a truck driver more than 20 years with the B&L Motor Freight Co., Newark, Ohio. He was a graduate of Portland High School. Mr. Myers was a member of the West Walnut Street Church of Christ, Teamsters Local No. 34, Battle Creek, Mich., and was a World War II veteran. He belonged to the American Legion Post 211, and the Moose and Eagles Lodges here.

He was also a member of the VFW post in Fort Recovery, Ohio, and was a 4-H leader in Greene Township.

Mr. Myers is survived by his wife, Maxiene Moser; two daughters, Mrs. Robert (Linda) Jones, Indianapolis, and Lila L. Erwin, Portland; two grandchildren; four sisters, Mrs. Walter (Betty) Parks, Union City, Mrs. Charles (Doris) Vester, Muncie, Mrs. Roy (Barbara) Goldsberry, Moberly, Mo., and Mrs. Fred (Marjorie) Whitacre, Binghamton, N.Y., and one brother, Robert W., Belem, Brazil.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday in Williamson and Spencer Funeral Home here, with Norman Weaver officiating. Burial will be in Green Park Cemetery here. Friends may call at the funeral home from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday.
