MORRES, THOMAS C.

Tommy Morres died peacefully [October 3, 2013] at the Joyce Goldenberg Hospice Residence with his loving wife and loved ones by his side. He was 90 years old.

Tommy was the youngest of four children born to Constantine Charles and Mary Bruno Morres whose marriage was the first in the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church on December 28, 1913. His parents and his siblings, a sister and two brothers, preceded him in death.

Tommy was a lifelong resident of Pensacola and the oldest lifelong active member of the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church. Tommy’s love and devotion to Christ has always been profoundly and completely demonstrated in his service to his Faith, Family, and Flag (country), fellow parishioners and his neighbors. Tommy has served his church for most of his ninety years consistently in many capacities, with his quiet, loving, Christian manner setting an example for many others to emulate. For this he was awarded Honorary Member of the Parish Council and The Archangel Michael Honors.

Tommy was a decorated Marine Raider who fought in the Pacific Theater, and was awarded two Purple Hearts.

Tommy was a dedicated family man for both his biological and church family.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years Demetra. Daughters, Evgenia (Mike) Pappas, Eleni Gaherty, Son, John (Carol) Talamo also surviving their beloved PaPou are Tommy and John Pappas, Elizabeth Gaherty, Anna and Jack Talamo, and many cousins, nephews and nieces here and in Greece. Also sisters-in-law Katie Michalopulos, Irini Avrilionis, brothers-in-law Dino (Artemis) Michalopulos, Peter (Athena) Michapulos.

Visitation will be from 5 – 7 p.m. Monday October 7, 2013 at Waters & Hibbert Funeral Home. Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday October 8, 2013 at the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church with Rev. Fr. Matthew Carter Presbyter.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, and the Joyce Goldenberg Hospice Residence in memory of Tommy.
