MONTANO, LEO J.
Marine Pfc. Leo J. Montano was killed in action at Guam July 21 [944], according to an official notice received by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Nicolas E. Montano, St. Catherine’s Indian School.
Private Montano, 20, was born in Antonito, Colo., but received his education in schools here. He was a student in St. Michael’s College and enlisted Oct. 5, 1942. After receiving boot training at San Diego, Calif., he went overseas in February, 1943. Although in his letters he did not give any place names, he participated in several campaigns before the Guam invasion.
Besides his parents, Private Montano is survived by two brothers, Private Arthur Eugene, stationed at Fort Bliss, Tex., and Eloy Montano, and four sisters, Mrs. Josephine Frank and Misses Vivien, Estella and Antonita Montano.
