MITCHEOM, JOHNNY E.

John E. Mitcheom [September 15, 2007], the owner of Mitcheom Realty and Investment Co., was born in DeFuniak Springs, Florida and attended Walton County Schools. He started working on a farm at the age of 10 for 50 cents a day. John joined the C.C.C. at 16 years of age and in 1942 he joined the Marines. John served as a sergeant in the South Pacific Theater, was wounded 3 times (3 Purple Hearts) and was medically discharged (80% disabled) in 1945. John practiced as a realtor in Alameda for sixty years. He was a life-long member of Kiwanis and served as the lieutenant governor for the California/Nevada district. John loved swimming, singing, building and buying property, and lending a hand to any fellow travelers he met who were in need of help. He is survived by his son Michael and wife Lisa, daughter Kathleen and husband Rich, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Friends and family are invited to a memorial service on Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2007 at 1:00 pm at the Greer Funeral Home at 2694 Blanding Ave., Alameda.
