MISLINSKI, JOSEPH P.

Joseph Mislinski, age 54, died of cancer 9:30 p.m. Thursday [January 22, 1976] at the Great Lakes Naval Hospital following a long illness. He was born January 26, 1921 in Kaukauna. From August of 1940 until August of 1970 Mr. Mislinski served in the Marine Corps and the Air Force. While in the Marine Corps in World War II, he served at Pearl Harbor, Guam, Midway, Okinawa and Iwo Jima, where he was awarded the Purple Heart. While serving in the Air Force he was stationed in Korea and Vietnam, where he was awared the Bronze Star. He was also awarded numerous medals for his years of service. He was a member of the Appleton Elks Lodge No. 337. Survivors include his wife, Jean Rinde Mislinski, two daughters, Miss Cathy Mislinski of Appleton, and Mrs. Harry (Sandy) Machado of Arroyo Grande, California, a son, Larry Mislinski of Yuba City, California, a brother, Ed Mislinski of Appleton, a sister, Mrs. H. E. (Olga) Jenkins of Appleton, and a grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers. The funeral will be 11:30 a.m. Monday at Holy Cross Catholic Church with the Rev. Roy Crain officiating. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call at the Fargo Funeral Home from 7 until 9 p.m. Sunday. There will be prayer service 8:30 p.m. Sunday. Full military services will be conducted by the Air Force.
