DIVIDEND, Utah County, March 7—Funeral services for 2nd Lt. Ira Donald Miller, 23, who was killed in action on Okinawa May 21, 1945, while serving with Carlson’s Raiders, will be conducted Saturday at 2 p.m. in the Provo City Burial Park by Rev. George J. Weber, Salt Lake Congregational Church minister.

Military honors will be by Eureka Post No. 24, American Legion.

Lt. Miller was born Nov. 6, 1921, in Goshen, Utah County, a son of Ira N. and Lillian Morgan Miller. At an early age he moved with his parents to Dividend where he lived most of his life.

A graduate of Payson High School, he was a student at the University of Utah when he enlisted in the Marine Corps Jan. 20, 1942. He went overseas in June, 1942, and served with Carlson’s Raiders of the First Marine Division at Midway, Guam, Guadalcanal and Okinawa.

He held the Silver Star, Purple Heart and two Presidential Unit Citations.

Surviving are his parents, Dividend, and a sister, Mrs. Barbara Conlin, Salt Lake City.

Burial will be directed by Fairbanks Mortuary, Orem.
