MICHIE, EARL H.

Earl H. Michie, 54, a geologist, was pronounced dead on arrival Friday [March 10, 1978] at a local hospital after suffering an apparent heart attack at his home.

Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday in the First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Isaac Butterworth, pastor, officiating. Interment will be in Childress Cemetery under direction of Sullivan Funeral Home.

Mr. Michie was born April 9, 1923, at Childress, a son of the late T. B. and Mrs. Eulalie Michie. He attended schools in Childress and Wichita Falls and was a graduate of the University of Oklahoma.

He served with the U.S. Marine Corps in the South Pacific during World War II. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and a 32nd Degree Mason.

He married Carolyn Cocke in Wichita Falls in 1948, and they moved to Vernon in 1950 from Wichita Falls.

Surviving are a son, Earl Michie Jr., a student at Midland High School; two daughters, Mrs. James Woodard of Midland and Mrs. Jerry Jacobs of Vernon; his mother, of Quanah; two brothers, Joe E. Michie of Snyder and Ted B. Michie of Tulsa, Okla.; a sister, Mrs. Joy Dorsey of Roswell, N.M. and two grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father in 1971.

Pallbearers will be R. P. Webb, Dick Wright, A. Q. Johnson, Wendell Mints, F. T. (Jack) Johnson and Bill Moore.
