MEYER, WESLEY H.
Wesley H. Meyer, 72, of Richmond, died Monday, July 8, 1996 at his home.
He was born July 16, 1923 in San Antonio. He attended school in San Antonio and joined the U.S. Marine Corps in December 1941. He served in Carlson’s Raider Battalion and then the 5th Marine Division. After World War II he worked for the Southern Pacific Railroad for 11 years. He then joined the Rosenberg Police Department and later the Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Department.
Wesley retired in 1988 from Lamar CISD. He belonged to VFW Post 3903 and the First United Methodist Church of Rosenberg. He was also a charter member of the Rosenberg Railroad Museum.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Rudolph Meyer and Mattie Miller Meyer.
He is survived by his wife Mary Miller Meyer of Richmond; children: Danny S. Meyer and wife Anna Maresh Meyer of Monroe, N.C.; David W. Meyer and wife Lillian Shedd Meyer of Rosenberg; Diana Meyer Sherril and husband Todd Sherril of Canyon Lake; grandchildren: Joshua Sherril, Morgan Sherril, Michael Meyer, Matthew Meyer and Austin Meyer; sisters: Rudine Meyer Anglin and husband Jack; Janet Meyer Shaw and husband Dale of San Antonio; numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service celebrating his life will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 13, 1996 at the First United Methodist Church in Rosenberg. The Rev. Louis Murray will officiate. Private graveside services will be at a later date.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to the First United Methodist Church of Rosenberg or the Rosenberg Railroad Museum of in Wesley’s memory.
