MENACHER, FREDERICK J.

Funeral services will be Wednesday for Frederick J. Menacher, 63, Oshkosh, who drowned Monday morning [March 11, 1985] in Lake Winnebago.

He was born June 20, 1921, in Birch Creek, Mich., the son of George and Julia Photeneauer Menacher. He served with the Marines from 1941 to 1945. He married Helen Edelbeck May 25, 1946, in Wausaukee. They came to Oshkosh in 1951.

Mr. Menacher worked at Apell Tile and Mosaic Co. from 1951 to 1954 and owned and operated Oshkosh Tile Co. from 1954 to 1972. He then was employed at the Oshkosh Shipping Association until retiring in 1983. He was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church, the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Survivors are his widow; one daughter, Mrs. David (Carol) Schmalz, Kimberly; two sons, Thomas and Fred Jr., both of Oshkosh; two brothers, James and Walter, both of Menominee, Mich.; and four grandchildren.

Memorial services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. in St. John’s Catholic Church, the Rev. William Van DeKreeke officiating. Cremation will follow.

There will be no visitation.
