MEDINGER, WILFRED M.

Services for Wilfred Mike Medinger, 62, of R.R. 2, East Moline, will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at DeRoo Funeral Home, and 11:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Moline.

Burial will be in National Cemetery, Rock Island Arsenal, where the American Legion Post 246 will conduct services.

Visitation is 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home, where the Rock Island County Forty and Eight will conduct services at 7 p.m. A rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. today at the church.

Memorials may be made to the Rock Island County Forty and Eight Nurses Training Fund.

Mr. Medinger died Saturday [June 7, 1986] at Illini Hospital.

He retired in 1980 as an experimental department mechanic from John Deere Plow and Planter Works, Moline, where he had been employed 30 years.

Mr. Medinger married Delores Black in 1946 in East Moline.

He was a Marine Corps veteran of World War II, and was a member of the Marine Raiders. He served in the Pacific Theater, and won the Purple Heart and Bronze [Star] Medal.

Mr. Medinger was a member of the American Legion; past chief of Rock Island Forty and Eight, Voiture 237; was a life member of the Marine Corps Raider Association; and was a member of the Marine Corps League.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Susan Medinger, Davenport; sons, Michael, Moline, and Charles, Milan, and John, Silvis; and nine grandchildren.
