MCCRACKEN, JOSEPH W.
Bodies of two Wichita County servicemen are en route to the United States from Guam, word has been received by relatives.
The men are Cpl. Joseph W. McCracken, a brother of Mrs. Debbie A. Coxen, 300 North Broadway, and Second Lt. Leslie A. Evans, Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. Leslie A. Evans, Jacksboro Highway.
Corporal McCracken was killed in action with the United States Marine Corps on Guam July 27, 1944. He had lived in Wichita Falls all his life and for 15 years before joining the Marines was employed by the United Gas Pipe Line Company. He enlisted in 1942 and saw action in various battles in the South Pacific.
McCracken is survived by two brothers, J. W. and W. W. McCracken, both of California, and another sister, Mrs. B. B. Roberts, Wichita Falls.
